Job Description

Hampton Ridge Healthcare & Rehabilitation is seeking a skilled Remote Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing patient billing, managing insurance claims, and ensuring timely payments while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. This role requires a high level of accuracy, knowledge of healthcare billing practices, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and submit accurate healthcare claims to insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid.

• Verify insurance coverage and patient information, ensuring claims are processed with the correct details.

• Review, correct, and resubmit denied or rejected claims in a timely manner.

• Process payments and follow up on outstanding claims to ensure timely collection of payments.

• Coordinate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve billing issues and discrepancies.

• Maintain patient billing records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.

• Post payments to patient accounts and prepare monthly financial reports related to billing.

• Handle patient inquiries regarding billing and insurance claims, providing clear and concise information.

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and insurance billing regulations and stay updated on policy changes.

• Collaborate with the finance team and other departments to optimize billing processes.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Medical Billing Specialist or similar role in a healthcare setting.

• Strong understanding of medical billing procedures, including coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS), and insurance claim processing.

• Familiarity with EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems and medical billing software.

• Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA compliance.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills for patient and insurance interaction.

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.

• High-speed internet connection and a dedicated home office setup.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in Medical Billing and Coding (e.g., CPC, CPB) is preferred.

• Experience with Medicare and Medicaid billing procedures.

• Proficiency in medical billing software, such as Kareo, NextGen, or similar systems.
