Job Description
PACU RN PT/PD NEEDED:
The PACU RN at Mission Community Hospital is responsible for providing comprehensive post-anesthesia care to patients who have undergone surgical procedures. This individual contributor role requires a high level of critical thinking skills, clinical expertise, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills to ensure quality patient care. This position is part-time and paid on an hourly basis. The job is located in Panorama City, California.
Compensation & Benefits:
The compensation package for this role includes a competitive hourly rate and potential for bonuses based on performance. Part-time/PD employees at Mission Community Hospital are also eligible for a limited benefits package, which includes health insurance, retirement plan options, and paid time off.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor patients in the post-anesthesia care unit to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician and document patient responses.
- Collaborate with anesthesia providers and members of the surgical team to develop and implement an individualized plan of care for each patient.
- Monitor and maintain patients' vital signs, oxygenation, and pain levels.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding post-operative care and discharge instructions.
- Manage patient flow in the PACU, ensuring efficient turnover of beds and timely discharge of patients.
- Document all care provided accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure patient safety.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to new nursing staff in the PACU.
Requirements:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a critical care setting with a focus on post-anesthesia care.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of electronic medical record systems.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
