Eastern Oregon University (EOU) is currently accepting applications for a Government Relations and Operations Manager. This position works within the University Advancement (UA) Department and reports Directly to the Vice President of UA. The Government Relations and Operations Manager is a Full-Time, 1.0 Full Time Equivalent (FTE), 12-Month position, that is eligible for the full state of Oregon array of employee benefits including fantastic employee and family heathcare (medical, dental and vision), generous paid time-off (vacation, holidays, sick, paid leave), and outstanding retirement benefits (pension and/or savings).
The Government Relations and Operations Manager provides high-level support for the division of University Advancement and the Office of the Board Secretary and General Counsel. This work is performed in a highly technical, conscientious, proactive, and confidential manner. The position is responsible for managing government relations engagement and advocacy, supporting EOU?s governing Board of Trustees, coordinating public record requests, and coordinating university policy. The position is an influential leader, building relationships and interacting with key internal and external constituents in a manner that represents EOU?s strategic plan and the goals and priorities of the President and Board of Trustees, University Advancement, and the Board Secretary and General Counsel. The Government Relations and Operations Manager coordinates EOU?s efforts in state and federal government relations programs, assessing, developing, tracking, and advocating for the university. The position works with legislators on higher education policy and funding priorities, and advocacy. The position attends regular local, regional, and statewide meetings to represent EOU. It develops materials ranging from oral and written testimony to project reports for the President, VPUA, and other university leaders. The position leads EOU?s participation in the statewide annual lobby days and plans and coordinates public affairs events such as town halls, committee hearings, and economic development conferences. The position develops and implements EOU?s advocacy program with alumni, students, employees, and others to engage with state and federal legislators. Core Competencies
