Position: Childcare Assistant Manager
Department: Childcare Center
Type: Full-Time, Seasonal (10 months)
Location: Wilmington, Vermont

About The Role:

Do you have a passion for early childhood development and a dedication to creating safe, nurturing environments for young children? The Hermitage Club is seeking a Childcare Assistant Manager to support our licensed Childcare Center, catering to children aged 6 weeks to 3 years. This role offers the opportunity to be part of an enthusiastic and dedicated team that focuses on providing exceptional care to our members' families.

You'll assist in managing daily operations, supervising staff, and ensuring compliance with state licensing and club standards-all while creating a joyful, educational experience for the children in our care. The Childcare Center operates during weekends and holiday periods from December through March, making this an exciting opportunity for a seasonal role in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Operations: Assist in the daily running of the Childcare Center, ensuring compliance with state regulations and club policies.
  • Lead with Positivity: Serve as a role model for staff, maintaining professionalism, accountability, and enthusiasm.
  • Staff Development: Welcome and train new staff members, assist in weekly lesson planning, and foster a collaborative, communicative environment.
  • Ensure Safety: Oversee safety protocols, manage sign-in/out procedures, and maintain a clean, organized, and safe facility.
  • Classroom and Administrative Support: Step in to assist in classrooms, provide office support, manage records, and help with various administrative tasks.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date on and ensure adherence to state licensing regulations, helping to maintain high operational standards.

Who We're Looking For:

  • Passionate Caregivers: You have experience working with children in grade three or younger, and a deep commitment to their growth, safety, and well-being.
  • Team Players: You thrive in a team environment, encouraging collaboration among peers and offering support where needed.
  • Organized and Detail-Oriented: You're skilled in administrative tasks and maintaining documentation, while ensuring a clean and organized space.
  • Positive Role Models: You lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, accountability, and a positive attitude at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 20 years old (Vermont Childcare Licensing Standards).
  • Must pass a background check and submit fingerprinting before working with children.
  • Must hold or obtain pediatric first aid and infant/child CPR certification within four weeks of hire.
  • Must complete at least 8 hours of professional development annually.
  • Educational qualifications: An associate degree (or equivalent coursework) in Early Childhood or related fields and 12 months of experience with children in grade three or younger.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Comfortable moving around and working at a child's eye level for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in winter conditions as part of daily responsibilities.
