Position Overview:
We are looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to take on a pivotal leadership role that will help shape our strategy, operations, and financial offerings. Working closely with the CEO, the CFO will drive financial and operational goals for our organization, which oversees over $15 million in annual revenue. This role is vital in ensuring our financial health and operational efficiency while collaborating on the design and analysis of innovative financial products that create sustainable impact.
As a strategic leader, you will manage budgeting, accounting, and long-term financial planning, bringing a strategic perspective to our operations. You will also design and implement systems that support our scalability and expansion into new markets, providing senior leaders with the financial insights necessary to align decisions with our mission and strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy
Collaborate with the CEO to set and refine the organization's financial strategy.
Lead the annual budgeting process and oversee all financial plans and budgets.
Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the executive team and board.
Ensure compliance with federal grants and other regulatory requirements.
Offer financial insights and strategic counsel to senior leaders regarding the financial implications of their initiatives.
Monitor financial performance, anticipate challenges, and devise strategies for financial impact.
Manage cash flow and collaborate with auditors on annual financial and regulatory matters.
Operations Management
Design, enhance, and implement systems and processes to improve efficiency and scalability across the organization.
Oversee operational infrastructure, ensuring systems support growth and increase impact.
Ensure compliance of accounting and reporting systems with GAAP and government regulations.
Identify opportunities for cross-functional collaboration to optimize organizational operations.
Lead the development and maintenance of key operational processes that drive overall organizational success.
Executive Leadership & Team Management
Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, contributing to overall strategy and overseeing financial and operational functions.
Report directly to the CEO, acting as a key advisor on financial and operational matters while collaborating with the leadership team to align strategies with organizational priorities.
Foster a culture of inclusivity and belonging, supporting all team members across diverse identities and championing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts throughout the organization.
Guide and mentor your team, ensuring alignment on priorities, effectively managing challenges, and promoting high performance and continuous improvement.
Engage with the Board to provide updates and insights on financial and operational strategies, fostering trust and accountability at all levels.
Requirements:
Required Skills and Experience
7-10+ years of progressive experience in senior financial and operational leadership roles (e.g., CFO, VP of Finance, VP of Operations, Director of Finance), with a proven track record in managing financial health and operational efficiency within a company, division, or nonprofit organization.
Degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; CPA preferred.
Proven expertise in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A): forecasting, budgeting, financial modeling, variance analysis, and providing insights for strategic decision-making.
Strong operational leadership experience with demonstrated success in implementing strategic plans and systems for scalability and efficiency.
Exceptional financial acumen with expertise in budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance.
Experience ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including financial statements, audits, and regulatory financial reporting.
Familiarity with financial systems, ERPs, and HCMs.
Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop diverse, high-performing teams.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to manage complexity and drive clarity.

Experience ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements related to fundraising, including debt issuance and public offerings.
Experience leading internal and external audits, assessing financial practices, ensuring compliance with regulations, and effectively addressing audit findings.
