Western Region Organizer

Based out of Los Angeles, CA or our New York office

Teamsters for a Democratic Union (TDU) is a grassroots movement of Teamster members that networks and develops rank-and-file activists and organizes to build union power from the bottom up.

Our movement is on the rise. We are recruiting and training grassroots activists, helping reformers run for local union office, and building contract campaigns with an eye to the 2028 UPS contract fight at UPS.

We are seeking an experienced, committed Organizer . This is a full-time organizing position based out of Los Angeles or our New York office.

Responsibilities

• Train rank-and-file activists to be leaders in their workplace and union
• Work with activists to build grassroots contract campaigns and contract enforcement campaigns
• Help activists run for local union office and build model local unions
• Organize TDU meetings, educational workshops and trainings, regional TDU conferences and the national TDU Convention
• Coordinate closely with our New York-based organizing team

Qualifications

• Previous organizing experience
• Commitment to building a progressive labor movement
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Strong computer skills

Additional Qualifications

• Willingness to work hard in a cooperative style. Some weekend work and travel comes with the job
• Ability to organize with workers from a variety of backgrounds and experiences
• Ability to speak Spanish

Compensation/Benefits

• Annual salary of up to $78,500 depending on experience
