Trust & Estates Attorney

Role:

You will provide expert legal counsel to clients on estate planning, trust administration, probate, and related matters. This role involves drafting complex legal documents, advising on tax implications, and ensuring clients’ wishes are executed in compliance with applicable laws.

Responsibilities:

• Estate Planning : Draft wills, trusts (revocable, irrevocable, special needs, etc.), powers of attorney, and advance healthcare directives tailored to clients’ needs and goals.
• Trust Administration : Advise trustees and beneficiaries on trust management, distributions, and compliance with fiduciary duties.
• Probate and Estate Administration : Represent clients in probate proceedings, manage estate settlements, and resolve disputes related to wills or trusts.
• Tax Planning : Provide guidance on minimizing estate, gift, and income taxes, including strategies involving charitable giving, generation-skipping trusts, and other tax-efficient vehicles.
• Client Counseling : Meet with clients to assess their financial situations, family dynamics, and long-term objectives, offering personalized legal strategies.
• Litigation Support : Handle or assist with trust and estate disputes, such as will contests, breach of fiduciary duty claims, or inheritance disagreements, when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in New York.
• 3+ years of experience in trust and estates law (specific requirements may vary by firm).
• Strong knowledge of estate planning, probate procedures, and tax laws (e.g., Internal Revenue Code, Uniform Trust Code).

Compensation:

$150-220k + bonus
