Job Summary:

The Professional Master's and Certificate Programs team, which supports the MS in Pharmaceutical Sciences: Applied Drug Development (ADD) and Psychoactive Pharmaceutical Investigation (PPI) programs and their associated graduate-level capstone certificates, is seeking a Student Learning Support Specialist to join the team. These innovative programs attract varied and ever-evolving student populations, and our student-centered team prioritizes meeting these growing student cohorts where they are. Our small, fun, and vibrant instructional support team provides high-quality educational experiences to our program's students by supporting the design, development, and enhancement of instructional activities and curricula.

A successful candidate will contribute to our team's efforts to better serve our graduate students by building supportive connections with faculty and industry subject matter experts. This position serves a critical role in our instructional support mission by utilizing effective educational methodologies and technologies to meet organizational and learner needs. More specifically, the incumbent will conduct thorough quality reviews on our online course materials and learning spaces, including usability and accessibility considerations. Additionally, this role will be responsible for setting up classroom technology for in-person and hybrid class meetings.

Responsibilities:

Assists with or supports the design, development, and enhancement of instructional activities, programs, and curricula. Utilizes effective educational methodologies and technologies to meet organizational and learner needs.
  • 15% Assists with the design and development of engaging, effective learning experiences which may be face-to-face, blended, and/or online
  • 20% Completes initial edits, reviews, and updates of existing instructional materials
  • 5% Contributes to researching, designing, and/or acquiring learning resources, technologies, materials, and/or processes to support learning
  • 10% Assists with providing basic training and technical support to learners in settings such as classrooms, labs, clinics, and distance learning mediums
  • 5% Provides consultation, training, and/or support for learning technology tools and platforms
  • 10% Analyzes, tests, troubleshoots, resolves issues, and provides feedback regarding learning technologies
  • 5% Provides support for collecting, organizing, interpreting, and disseminating data to identify instructional program needs and enhance effectiveness
  • 5% Assists with the design and development of multimedia learning materials
  • 5% Provides support for faculty development and engagement programs and activities
  • 15% Sets up technology and provides onsite support for hybrid class sessions
  • 5% Collaborates with colleagues on projects that improve the overall student experience

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, STEM, or similar fields.

Candidates with bachelor's degrees in other disciplines with work experience in instructional technology will be considered.

Qualifications:

Required Skills:
- Working expertise with Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and collaboration software (MS Teams, Zoom, Google Drive, Box).
- Proven ability to work and communicate effectively in teams, bringing an enthusiastic and professional attitude that enhances the morale of others in the work and learning environment.
- Keen attention to detail and ability to work independently on a daily basis with little or no direct supervision and to manage projects assigned in a productive and efficient manner.
- Excellent time management and organization skills with an ability to meet all deadlines with high quality work.
- Exemplary written and verbal communication skills, including experience in electronic and online communications.

Preferred skills:
- Familiarity with online curriculum design, development, delivery, and evaluation.
- Proficiency in educational technology systems used by UW-Madison (Canvas, Kaltura).
- Familiarity with setting up hybrid instructional technology (webcams, speakers, microphones, etc.) in a physical classroom.

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $55,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as generous vacation, holidays, and paid time off, competitive insurances and savings accounts, and retirement benefits through the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS).

Candidates who are qualified can expect to earn between $55,000 and $62,000. Those who are highly qualified may earn between $62,000 and $67,000.
