Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with teachers and educational staff to provide individualized assistance to students, particularly those with autism and developmental disabilities. Your efforts will help create a supportive and inclusive learning atmosphere that promotes the academic and social growth of all students.
Key Responsibilities:
• Individualized Support: Assist in implementing educational programs and activities tailored to meet the unique needs of students with special education requirements.
• Classroom Assistance: Support classroom teachers in managing the learning environment, ensuring a safe and productive space for all students.
• Instructional Support: Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to reinforce literacy and other curriculum areas, adapting teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
• Social Development: Help students develop social skills and independence through guided interactions and structured activities.
• Progress Monitoring: Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers regarding individual student needs.
• Curriculum Adaptation: Collaborate with educators to adapt curriculum development strategies that accommodate diverse learning styles.
• Communication: Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to foster a supportive educational community.
• Professional Development: Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in early childhood education and special education practices.
Qualifications:
• Educational Background: High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
• Experience: Prior experience working with children in a classroom setting, especially those with special needs, is highly desirable.
• Skills: Strong understanding of special education principles, particularly in relation to working with individuals on the autism spectrum and those with developmental disabilities.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with teachers, parents, and support staff.
• Commitment: A patient, empathetic approach to teaching that recognizes the unique strengths of each student.
