Software Engineer Victor 12 is seeking a Software Engineer to support an ongoing prime contract with the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) based in Orlando, Florida. This position is a remote/work-from-home opportunity.
Job Summary The Software Engineer works closely with the Program/Project Manager, Sr. Software Architect, Scrum Master, and Scrum team to design and develop new technology solutions and to sustain current web applications. The Software Engineer has the following responsibilities:
- Coordinate with Project Manager and Scrum team for development of technological applications that are customized to meet an organization’s needs.
- Implement backlog items to modify applications resulting from approved user requests, then train users on updates.
- Conduct demonstrations of new feature(s) and software bug fixes for customer and Government leadership stakeholders, as needed.
- Demonstrate and assist Scrum team with learning and using various technologies, professionally communicating ideas to team.
- Document software requirements and software design; develop and implement test plans.
- Work collaboratively with team members, including software engineers, system administrator, Learning Management System (LMS) support, and third-party vendors.
- Conduct analysis and provide recommendations for system lifecycle, to include enhancements, maintenance, and sunset recommendations.
- Develop, revise, or conduct quality control of technical and procedural documentation.
- Design and develop software solutions to integrate custom training application capabilities into a Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) Adobe Learning Manager (ALM) platform.
This role requires a systems-based approach to solution development, with the ability to see the big picture while also tending to details.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology and 12 years of related experience.
NOTE : Foreign university transcripts must meet accreditation standards by one of two national associations of credential evaluation services designated by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and U.S. Department of Education: National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE).
- Working knowledge of database functionality and using Microsoft (MS) SQL Server.
- Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices and project planning/execution skills, including estimating and scheduling.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the following areas:

- Azure DevOps or JIRA
- Source control with Git and Gitflow
- WCF services
- Development on AWS, Azure, or other Cloud Technologies
Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to applicants with working knowledge and experience in:
- Agile (Scrum)
- Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA)/Information Assurance (IA)
- Section 508 accessibility compliance
Preference is also given to applicants who provide access to their GitHub portfolio or personal webpage to review projects and related work.
In addition, this position requires the successful candidate to:
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with multi-functional teams, managers, customers, and program leadership.
- Pass a background investigation, including FBI fingerprint check and provide “identity-proofed” identification through authentication of two forms of government-issued identification.
