Job Description

This position is open exclusively to candidates based in LATAM countries.

What are we looking for?

In this opportunity, we are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer with strong Python and AWS expertise to work with one of our international clients, a corporation that, through its subsidiaries, provides life insurance protection targeted to the middle American market.

This role is focused on application modernization and cloud transformation. You will be responsible for analyzing, decomposing, and re-architecting legacy .NET applications, converting them into modern, scalable Python-based solutions running on serverless AWS infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in building cloud-native web applications, understands legacy systems well enough to navigate and refactor existing .NET codebases, and is comfortable producing clear, structured technical documentation to support knowledge transfer and long-term maintainability.

As a Software Engineer III, you will design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions that meet internal team needs while collaborating closely with architects and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable, and well-documented systems.

If you are fully fluent in English, proactive, communicate well, like to solve problems, and have strong attention to detail, this role might be a great fit for you! Our jobs are fully remote and you will be integrated directly into the client’s team, gaining valuable experience and forming meaningful connections.

What's unique about this job?

You will play a key role in modernizing legacy systems by leading the technical transformation from monolithic .NET applications to serverless, Python-based architectures on AWS. This position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of legacy system understanding and modern cloud engineering, with a strong emphasis on clean architecture, scalability, and documentation.

You will collaborate closely with architects and engineering teams, contributing not only code but also technical insights, design decisions, and documentation that enable smooth handoffs and long-term success for the core engineering teams.

Here are some of the exciting day-to-day challenges you will face in this role:
  • Analyze and understand legacy .NET applications to plan modernization strategies
  • Design and implement modern Python-based replacements for legacy systems, leveraging serverless AWS infrastructure (Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the architecture team to ensure implementations align with enterprise engineering standards
  • Identify opportunities for re-architecture and process improvement during migration work
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy data migration and management tools
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code that meets coding standards and best practices
  • Create comprehensive onboarding documentation and technical guides to enable smooth handoffs to core engineering teams
  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to improve code quality
  • Work with QA engineers to develop and execute test plans, ensuring high software quality
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues in both legacy and modernized systems and provide timely resolutions
  • Keep up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in software engineering and recommend improvements to the development process
You will shine if you have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • At least 6 years of experience in software engineering
  • Strong proficiency in the Python programming language
  • Strong proficiency in Amazon Web Services (AWS), particularly serverless technologies (Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, etc.)
  • Strong proficiency in AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Amazon Q, Copilot, or similar) for accelerating code analysis and development
  • Strong proficiency with database technologies such as SQL or NoSQL databases
  • Experience with software development tools and processes such as Agile/Scrum, Git, IaC, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience building enterprise-class applications with attention to quality and reliability
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to create clear documentation for knowledge transfer
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent English communication and collaboration skills
It doesn’t hurt if you also have:
  • Experience modernizing or migrating legacy applications to cloud-native architectures
  • Familiarity with .NET Framework, .NET Core, sufficient to read and understand legacy codebases
  • Experience with Python web frameworks
  • Strong experience working with serverless, high-availability, and high-scalability architectures
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture design patterns
  • Experience with data migration strategies and security best practices
  • Familiarity with Okta or other SSO & SAML strategies and technologies
Here are some of the perks we offer you:
  • Salary in USD
  • 100% Remote
