POSITION TITLE: Research Assistant
PRIMARY WORK LOCATION: Santee Campus, Macy Campus, or South Sioux City Campus
CLOSING DATE: Until filled Position Type: Part-time (10 hours per week)
STARTING SALARY: $18.00-$20.00 depending on experience

Position Overview:
The Research Assistant will support applied weather and climate research for the NICC and surrounding tribal communities. This role involves various responsibilities focused on technical assistance, outreach, collaboration, and research summarization.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Assistance: 

  • Assist with the siting and installation of weather instrumentation.
  • Contribute to the development of data products. 

Outreach: 

  • Engage with tribal environmental departments to promote awareness and understanding of weather and climate issues. 

Collaboration: 

  • Work closely with regional researchers to support ongoing research initiatives. 

Research Summarization: 

  • Summarize research results and findings for both oral presentations and written reports. 


Qualifications: 

  • Experience with weather sensors and instrumentation is preferred. 
  • Familiarity with data analysis techniques. 
  • Previous experience in educational outreach or community engagement is advantageous. 
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
