Job Summary The Public Relations & Marketing Specialist will provide support to MCC's Office of Institutional Advancement team including basic photography and photo archiving; graphic design (primarily using templates or samples), copywriting/proofreading, record keeping and event support.
Essential Functions
30% - Record keeping - Ensure promotional items, linens and other items are organized, distributed and tracked in a method that may be reported as needed; follow or establish processes to annotate, catalog, store or retrieve digital assets and required documentation. (i.e. photo releases, project files).
25 % - Copywriting and proofreading - Proofread or draft news releases, articles, intranet posts, reports, flyers, social media posts and other promotional materials.
20% - Event support -- Support efforts to schedule, plan and execute collaborative college, community and departmental events; coordinate logistics as directed and provides on-site support for events (before, during and after).
20% - Basic photography and graphic design- Take photos of college locations and activities for promotional use, obtaining photo releases when necessary; use Canva or other college-provided software to develop flyers, invitations, social media posts and other items as requested.
5% - Other general office coverage and support.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution and one year of responsible support experience directly related to assignment, which may include coordination of records and materials, event and project logistics, social media metrics, marketing data gathering and compilation of data and metrics. Strong writing skills are required.

High School Diploma/GED and three years of responsible support experience directly related to assignment, which may include coordination of records and materials, event and project logistics, social media metrics, marketing data gathering and compilation of data and metrics. Strong writing skills are required.
Desired Qualifications A. Competent using basic photography equipment i.e. camera, phone or iPad
B. Familiar with software (Canva, Adobe, Hootsuite or similar) to develop flyers, invitations, social media posts and other items as requested
C. Proficient copywriting and proofreading skills
D. Efficient in record keeping to track inventory and prepare reports
E. Strong organizational skills and attention to details
F. Experience with content management systems and digital media platforms
Special Working Conditions May be required to occasionally work evenings, weekends or early mornings both on and off campus.
