Job Title: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Overview: Therapy Contracting Services, Inc. is a staffing health care company that provides therapist for home health agencies. We service patients in Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio areas and provide personalized quality care within the comfort of your home or place of residence. Job Summary: A Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) to provide physical therapy services to patients. PTAs help implement treatment plans, conduct therapy sessions, and assist patients in improving their physical abilities and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities: - Therapeutic Interventions :
- Administer physical therapy treatments as directed by the supervising PT.
- Assist patients with exercises, therapeutic activities, and the use of equipment to improve mobility, strength, and coordination.
- Monitor patients during therapy sessions and provide feedback to the PT.
- Patient Support :
- Encourage and motivate patients to follow through with their therapy plans.
- Educate patients on exercises and activities they can do at home to enhance their recovery.
- Assist patients with proper techniques to prevent further injury and promote healing.
- Progress Monitoring :
- Observe and document patient progress and responses to treatments.
- Report any changes or concerns about the patient's condition to the supervising PT.
- Assist in modifying treatment plans based on patient progress and feedback.
- Administrative Duties :
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment plans and progress notes.
- Prepare treatment areas and ensure that therapy equipment is clean and in good working condition.
- Schedule appointments and manage patient files as needed.
- Collaboration and Communication :
- Work closely with the PT and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Participate in team meetings and case conferences to discuss patient progress and treatment plans.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and the healthcare team.
- Professional Development :
- Stay current with best practices and new techniques in physical therapy.
- Participate in training and continuing education opportunities as required by the supervising PT or employer.
Qualifications: - Education : Associate’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Certification : Certification from the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) or other relevant certifying bodies preferred.
- Licensure : Valid state license or registration to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Driver’s license and CPR Certification.
- Experience : Clinical experience through internships or previous employment preferred.
- Skills :
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathy and patience.
- Ability to follow treatment plans and instructions from the supervising PT.
- Physical stamina to assist patients and perform therapy activities.
Work Environment: - Settings : Home Health Care
- Hours : Typically, full-time, with some evening or weekend hours depending on patient needs.
