Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the Assistant Director of Annual Giving will work to promote a culture of philanthropy with the University of Kentucky's students, as well as work with campus partners in the collaborations with the Office of Annual Giving. The successful candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented, savvy in event management and familiar with the current service-oriented culture of students and young alumni. The Assistant Director will work closely with students, other members of the Annual Giving and UK Philanthropy staff as well as with partners across the university to perform these primary responsibilities:

  • Work with student volunteers, interns, workers, and student organizations to oversee all aspects of the Center for Student Philanthropy. Hire, train and manage student workers and volunteers to ensure consistent staffing of the center. Recruit and manage a student philanthropy board who will represent students at philanthropy events, assist with stewardship of university donors, and promote one student-giving campaign each year. Work with student groups as well as with other UK Philanthropy staff to program a variety of events to strengthen the culture of philanthropy. Manage the annual Thank-A-Donor Day event. Acquire and manage a library of philanthropy publications, as well as develop guides that can assist student organizations with their fundraising efforts.

  • Serve as a point person for DanceBlue within the Office of Philanthropy. Work with the DanceBlue student leaders to produce annual mailings. Manage the DanceBlue team pages on the University's online giving platform, including conducting an annual training session for team captains. Assist with any issues regarding the reporting and counting of gifts. Work with the DanceBlue Alumni Coordinator to help manage alumni solicitations and programs. Develop DanceBlue best practice guides and optional training sessions that students can access at the Center for Student Philanthropy. Attend the DanceBlue marathon each year.

  • Work with other annual giving staff to plan and implement a multi-channel solicitation and stewardship strategy.

  • Serve as the liaison between Annual Giving and the UK Alumni Association and Annual Giving and campus partners with regard to student philanthropy.
