Position : University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics is recruiting faculty candidates in all Pediatric subspecialties for its Program In Pediatric Research. The mission of the Program for Pediatric Research is to support research into the causes and cures of childhood illness and the improvement of child health. Appointment will be considered at the level of Instructor in Pediatrics (non-tenure) and open rank tenure track positions that will support promising investigators in basic, translational, and clinical research in any subspecialty of pediatrics, including Allergy-Immunology, Pulmonology, Cardiology, Child and Community Health, Critical Care, Developmental- Behavioral Medicine, Endocrinology and Diabetes, Gastroenterology, General Pediatrics, Genetics, Hematology/ Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Neonatology, Nephrology and Dialysis, Neurology, Pediatric Psychology, and Rheumatology, or any related area. Candidate’s rank will be dependent on qualifications and experience. The Program provides a generous start-up package, protected time, as well as mentorship for early-career investigators.

The pediatrics department comprises the medical staff of University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children’s Hospital, Iowa’s only nationally ranked children’s hospital and home to the state’s only accredited Level 1 Regional Resource Pediatric Trauma Center. The ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program at Stead Family Children’s Hospital trains 50 pediatric resident physicians.

Required Qualifications: All applicants must have a relevant doctoral degree and a record of accomplishment in the area of pediatric research
Demonstrated track record in productivity of scientific publications and peer-reviewed external funding
Desirable Qualifications: Demonstrated history of current externally funded scholarly activity including NIH funding
An interest in interdisciplinary research programs
Strength in teaching
Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
