Summary Mountain Sprouts Children's Community is looking for a full-time teacher to join the staff at our nature-based preschool program. The minimum qualifications and starting wage reflect a candidate who can fill the lead teacher role. The Education requirements for supervisor and higher starting wage reflect a candidate who can fill the program supervisor role. The hourly wage is negotiable and depends on experience.
Willow Preschool Lead Teacher & Program Supervisor Position: Full-time position as a lead for the licensed ONB (outdoor, nature-based)
Location: Willow Program in downtown Leavenworth
Hours: M - Th., 8:00a - 4:00p. Students are on site 8:45 - 3:15p. Additional Friday hours available.
Overview: We are an outdoor, nature-based program from children 3 - 7 years old that spends all day every day outside. Willow is in session Sept. - mid-June. Summer employment is available as a summer camp program lead. Willow + summer camp program supervisor positions amounts to full-time, year-round work.
Starting wage is $22-$25 DOE
Duties - Actively function in the ONB program as a teacher & ensure the safety, health and wellness of the children.
- Work with a co-teacher to implement daily emergent curriculum based on The Cedarsong Way and Wild Learning
- Address student needs and growth through regular observation and documentation and responsive teaching
- Support implementation of daily activity schedules and curriculum plans; adapt plans as necessary to meet temperament and needs of the group
- Collaborate to assess individual student development needs (3x year); participate in goal setting and progress evaluations with co-workers and families
- Promote children?s emotional and social development, understanding of others and self-actualization through whole-child centered learning
- Develop & maintain positive relationships with families; provide regular verbal communication regarding daily involvement and feedback related to ongoing areas of individual student development using email, Brightwheel messaging, and direct communication
- Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain an orderly, attractive and safe environment in the shared spaces, bathroom and storage areas
- Manage daily staffing needs for the Willow site including maintaining substitute relationships
- Ensure monthly emergency drills take place
- Oversee inventory and purchasing for Willow site
- Sound, independent decision making that follow MSCC policy and DCYF licensing regulations.
- Attend meetings and trainings as required including once monthly staff meeting
- Adhere to all MSCC policies and procedures and complies with state licensing requirements
Requirements Minimum Qualifications: - Be at least eighteen years of age or older
- Have completed a high school education or the equivalent
- Have 2+ years documented work experience with preschool/early school age (3 - 7 years old)
- Readiness to be outside everyday.
Education Requirements for Program Supervisor - ECE state certificate or equivalent (25 college quarter credits in early childhood education core competencies) and
- 30 hours or three credits of nature-based education training
Certifications & Requirements upon Hire: - A current basic standard first aid and age appropriate CPR certificate (Mountain Sprouts can facilitate this.)
- Written proof of HIV/AIDS and bloodborne pathogen training (Mountain Sprouts can provide this.)
- The results of a two step Mantoux TB skin test prior to starting work with children
- Compliance with criminal background check and fingerprinting in compliance with DCYF including registration with MERIT electronic workforce database.
- Complete required STARS training within six months of becoming a teacher
- Food handlers permit (Mountain Sprouts can provide this.)
Benefits - Paid Holidays/Closures: All federal holidays except Columbus/Indigenous peoples day, 1 week Spring break, 1 - 2 weeks winter break (Christmas - New years, depending on how the days land).
