What You Will Be Doing Join our team at the Division of Mining, Land & Water (DMLW) for an exciting opportunity to be part of the Contract Initiation and Revenue Recovery Section (CIRR) backlog reduction project. This role offers the chance for broad exposure to the work of our division and is a great chance to grow within the Department of Natural Resources. You will be involved in auditing permits, easements, and leases across the three regional land offices and contributing to the development of new programs. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to conduct land research, data analysis, and application of statutes and regulations.

Our mission at the Division of Mining, Land & Water (DMLW) is to responsibly manage Alaska's state-owned land and water to ensure their appropriate use while aiming for maximum utilization in line with the public interest. As part of the Contract Initiation and Revenue Recovery Section (CIRR), our role is to support DNR and DMLW in their missions by overseeing the maintenance of state authorizations and ensuring monetary compliance in accordance with the public interest.

The Working Environment You Can Expect While the CIRR team is primarily located in Anchorage, this position will be our section’s representative in the Juneau office. Most work will be performed in the office, interacting with physical casefiles. However, we offer situational teleworking opportunities to all our staff. The daily work environment for CIRR is collaborative, supportive, and team-oriented. Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:

Definitions:
“Competencies” means a combination of interrelated knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation.
“Qualified” means is assessed to credibly possess the competencies needed to learn the job in a reasonable period.
“Training” and “education” in this guidance are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom, on-line, self-study, and on-the-job), from accredited and unaccredited sources, and long duration (such as a post-secondary degree) and short-duration (such as a seminar) programs.

Special Note:
For purposes of the minimum qualifications, natural resource management is defined as the management of the land, water, mineral, forest, oil, gas, agricultural, archaeological, natural and cultural history, park, and related surface and subsurface resources. Experience or education in natural resource management means involvement in the above resources exclusively. Those with experience or education in managing these resources may specialize in different management functions (for example, planning, regulation, research or title). All of this experience is applicable to the natural resource management definition. Some positions may require education in a particular area of natural resource management or specific technical knowledge and training gained through specialized education or progressively greater responsibilities at the lower levels of the series.
