About us

Deeply Rooted Music School (DRMS) serves the Arvada, Lakewood, Westminster, North West Denver, and surrounding areas with quality music education. At DRMS, we empower our students to express themselves through music with collaboration, creativity, and fun. We offer a variety of services including individual private lessons, group courses, large and small ensembles, music workshops, camps, and early childhood classes. Our goal is to create long-term relationships with our students and build a community of musicians. We prepare students for a multitude of 21st-century skills integrating technology into all aspects of our teaching.

Deeply Rooted Music School is looking for highly passionate and experienced music instructors. At DRMS, we empower students to express themselves through music with collaboration, creativity, and fun. We are looking for teachers who can work with students and staff to provide engaging and effective music instruction.

EXPERIENCE

  • At least 2 years of prior teaching experience with students aged 5-12.
  • Empathetic communication skills, patience, and an open, encouraging work style
  • Must be highly qualified to instruct in their instrument/content area (piano).
  • Degree in music, music education, or some formal training/certification in music or education preferred
  • Must have at least 6 years of active experience in their instrument/content area

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide private 1-on-1 lessons and/or group classes for students
  • Create a safe and fun learning environment for students
  • Prepare the content and materials for each lesson or class
  • Provide DRMS the name, description, and length of the classes or lessons Instructor is able and willing to teach as well as ideal class size for each.
  • Show up on time with timely notification and communication of absences
  • Report lesson attendance, attend periodic school meetings, and periodically update DRMS on lesson progress
  • Option to teach virtual lessons or classes (must provide your own technology materials)
  • Handle DRMS instruments and facilities appropriately, responsibly, and with care

We want to see samples of your teaching either by providing us a video of a lesson or delivering a trial observed lesson at our facility. Applications without additional portfolio materials or incomplete applications will not be considered .

If interested, DRMS will follow up to schedule an in-person or virtual interview. A background check will be required.

COMPENSATION

Instructor shall be paid on a per-event basis. Each class/lesson/workshop will be approved by both the Instructor and the School at the start of each quarter, based on student interest and sign-ups. Compensation includes any communications with students, answering questions, and basic scheduling with the school – these will not be individually compensated. Instructor understands that they will be compensated for each class according to the following rate chart:

  • Half-hour lesson: $20.00
  • One-hour lesson: $40.00
  • Classes and Workshops: dependent on class
  • Summer Camp: $750 per session
  • Miscellaneous Admin/Events: $25/hour unless otherwise agreed in advance

There is opportunity for this role to grow into a part-time employee position depending on demand.
