Overview:
Responsible for the receptionist and clerical function on the Patient Care unit and documentation of cardiac rhythms at a central monitoring station under supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities:
- Continuous Monitoring : Observe and interpret cardiac rhythms and other vistal signs on telemetry monitors. Identify any deviations from the norm and respond promptly. Posts monitor strips and 24-hour trends as directed daily. Accurate rhythm interpretation.
- Alarm Response : Immediately notify nursing staff or appropriate personnel of any critical changes in patient status
- Documentation : Accurately document cardiac rhythms, events, and any interventions in the patient's medical record as per hospital policy
- Equipment Maintenance : Ensure that telemetry equipment is functioning correctly and report any malfunctions or issues to the appropriate department
- Communication : Maintain clear and professional communication with the healthcare team, including nurses, physicians, and other technicians.
- Confidentiality : Protect patient privacy by adhering to HIPAA and other confidentiality policies
- Professional Accountability : Independently seeks out other job-related experiences to enhance knowledge base. Timely completion of assigned education and annual competencies. Actively engaged in unit-based councils and performance improvement. Recognizes unit needs and works to facilitate solutions.
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of cardiac rhythms and medical terminology.
- Proficiency in using telemetry and other monitoring equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have completed Medical Terminology course
