Foss Communications is a local small business that specializes in voice/data network cabling for large and small projects. We are currently hiring for multiple technicians to install voice/data network cabling and work within a project team. Foss is committed to providing on the job training.
This position is open individuals searching for a challenging career opportunity in the growing world of technology and communications. Individuals will assist with the installation of structured cabling of both copper and fiber optic.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Communicate effectively with customers, Project Managers and team members.
• Build out data closets and equipment rooms.
• Test, troubleshoot, and document test results for copper cabling and fiber utilizing industry standardized testers.
• Install cable pathway systems (cable trays, data racks, patch panels, etc.).
• Install, terminate, test, and label low voltage cabling infrastructure.
• Dress and route cable into data closets and work areas.
• Installation documentation, as-builts.
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
• Honest, reliable and good work ethic.
• Fiber optic installation, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to listen carefully and follow instructions.
• High attention to detail.
• Exhibit a positive attitude.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Self-motivated and excellent work ethic.
• Demonstrate and promote team-work.
• Prompt attendance to work and scheduled job sites.
• Operating and maintaining Foss Communications required vans and tools.
• Safe handling of all products.
• Accurate paperwork.
• Ability & willingness to travel.
EDUCATION:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associates degree or 2-4 years’ equivalent work experience preferred.
• BICSI Certification a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
• Ability to learn and grasp new concepts on the job.
• Valid driver’s license and clean MVR to drive Foss Communications vehicles.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends on occasion.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
• Probationary period of 90 days.
• Individuals with a felony or misdemeanor convictions MAY be disqualified.
• Individuals must not have any alcohol or drug-related convictions or suspensions within the past three years.
• Individual must be able to read and understand instructions in English as well as possess good oral & written communication skills.
• Individual must be able to pass a drug and physical screening as well as background requirements.
