Job Title: Junior Mainframe Developer

Location: Onsite in Chicago, IL (must be onsite from Day 1)

Contract: 1-year contract

Pay Rate: $32/hr on W2 (no benefits)

Job Description :

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Junior Mainframe Developer to join our team in Chicago, IL. This is a fantastic opportunity for an entry-level professional with foundational mainframe skills who is eager to grow their career in mainframe development. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, basic knowledge of mainframe environments, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities :

• Collaborate with senior developers and team members to develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues within mainframe systems, ensuring minimal downtime and system reliability.
• Write and optimize COBOL, JCL, and other mainframe-specific code to support application functionality.
• Perform basic code reviews, debugging, and system checks to support application quality.
• Support database management tasks as they relate to mainframe applications, including data querying and management.
• Document code, processes, and system configurations as part of project support.
• Actively participate in team meetings, providing updates and insights on assigned tasks.

Requirements :

• 1+ years of experience in mainframe development or recent completion of a mainframe-focused course or training.
• Basic knowledge of COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an onsite environment.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. is required as this role does not offer sponsorship.

Additional Information :

• This is a full-time onsite role in Chicago, IL, with no remote option.
• Candidates must be willing to start onsite from Day 1.
• Pay rate is $32 per hour on a W2 basis (no benefits included).
