Under the general direction of the Deputy District Director for Administration (CEA) the incumbent has full responsibility for the District's Public Information and Audio/Visual (A/V) graphics functions, and statutory compliance with the California Public Records Act (CPRA). The incumbent plans, organizes, supervises, coordinates and directs a staff in the administration of the information activities for District 12. The incumbent serves as the District's Chief Spokesperson for the media and other external stakeholders.

Special Requirements

The SOQ should be single spaced, size 12 Arial font, maximum two pages in lengt h. The SOQ should have a title of “Statement of Qualifications”, must include responses to the following questions, and restate each question preceding each response in the order they are listed. Applicants who do not exactly follow these requirements will not be reviewed/considered and will be disqualified.

1) Public Affairs is about serving the public and providing excellent customer service. How would you go about  working with a stakeholder who is upset about a particular action that Caltrans has taken and how would you  respond and turn this into a positive interaction?

2) This job requires writing press releases, developing messaging and editing talking points and other materials on  behalf of Caltrans. Please describe your past writing experience and rate your expertise on a scale of 1-10, with 10  being excellent.

3) Describe your experience working with Caltrans Maintenance Service Request (CSR) program, or other  customer-service related programs and duties. Discuss your process for assigning, responding and closing out CSRs  or customer-service issues in a timely manner.
