We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Fractional Merchant to join our team in the premium baby apparel category. This remote position is ideal for a candidate with a strong background in merchandising, category management, and an in-depth understanding of the premium baby apparel market. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for fashion trends, a deep understanding of the target consumer, and the ability to drive product assortment strategies that align with market demands. As a fractional role, this position offers flexibility and is ideal for individuals seeking part-time engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Category Management:
Lead the development and execution of merchandising strategies for the premium baby apparel category.
Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify opportunities and gaps within the category.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the competitive landscape, ensuring that our offerings are both competitive and differentiated.
2. Consumer Insights:
Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the premium baby apparel consumer, including preferences, behaviors, and purchasing patterns.
Use consumer insights to inform product assortment, marketing strategies, and promotional activities.
3. Fashion and Color Trends:
Stay ahead of fashion and color trends within the baby apparel industry.
Collaborate with design and product development teams to ensure that the product assortment is both trend-right and aligned with the brand’s aesthetic.
4. Product Assortment:
Drive the product assortment strategy, make recommendations on what silhouettes to develop for each season’s collections based on market trends and consumer preferences.
5. Demand Planning:
Lead the demand planning and work with the operations team to create accurate demand forecasts. Includes determining the correct units per size to order.
Monitor sales performance and adjust strategies as necessary to meet financial goals.
Ensure optimal inventory levels to meet consumer demand while minimizing excess stock.
6. Sales Data and Market Trend Analysis:
Analyze sales data and market trends to develop strategies aimed at maximizing profits and increasing sales of premium baby apparel.
Monitor competitive activity and market conditions to make informed decisions that enhance product offerings and market positioning.
7. Pricing Strategy:
Develop and implement pricing strategies that achieve revenue and profit targets.
Monitor pricing trends within the market and make adjustments as needed to stay competitive and meet sales targets.
8. Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate inventory records, track sales, and monitor stock levels to ensure optimal inventory availability and turnover.
Monitor stock movement and consider markdowns, promotions, price changes, and clear-outs to optimize inventory levels and profitability.
9. Reporting and Performance Analysis:
Prepare and present sales reports and other performance data to stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations for future strategies.
Regularly review performance metrics to ensure alignment with business objectives.
10.Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with marketing, design, and sales teams to ensure cohesive brand messaging and product launches.
Communicate regularly with key stakeholders to keep them informed of category performance and upcoming initiatives.
