Electronic Maintenance Technician - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, Ohio

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Electronic Maintenance Technician will be assigned to the Maintenance Department and report to the Maintenance Lead Technician.

  • Works as a team member of a group of electronic technicians, mechanical technicians, reliability engineers, parts technicians, management, and other maintenance staff.

  • Leads and assists in the modification, repair, and improvement of existing electronic equipment and controls, and will assist in developing new or updated electronic systems as required.

  • Maintains and makes necessary operating adjustments to electronic systems.

  • Determines part replacement needs and takes action to ensure the necessary repairs can be made in an efficient manner.

  • Participates and leads in the development, execution, and record keeping of various electronic equipment as it relates to the preventative maintenance of production and facilities equipment.

  • Performs troubleshooting, testing, calibration, and modification of various manufacturing and production equipment, including machine power, instrumentation, control systems, etc.

  • Performs machine positional accuracy testing using laser measurement equipment. Troubleshoots and corrects machine deficiencies to meet calibration requirements.

  • Develops systems and assists employees regarding safe working procedures and requirements when working with electronic equipment and components.

  • Develops and maintains records related to electronic and electrical equipment.

  • Applies electronic theory, electrical theory, and related knowledge while working with the facilities and engineering groups on various projects.

  • Ensures local, state, and national electrical codes are followed and proper materials are used on equipment and projects for which they are responsible.

  • Reports potentially dangerous electronic/electrical equipment and takes steps to resolve the issue.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • This is a weekend shift position with the following core hours, Fri-Sun (11:00am-11:30pm). This a 36 hour work week, paid at 40 hours. Additional details on schedule requirements will be covered.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical or associate degree preferred.

  • 6 years minimum experience is required.

  • Must be available for schedule overtime, including some weekends.

  • Experience working with production/manufacturing equipment is a plus. Including items such as: PLC’s, VFD’s, CNC programming, machine controls, feedback devices, scales, rotary encoders, etc.

  • Siemens machine controls experience is a plus.

  • Possesses knowledge and demonstrates competency applicable to National Electric Codes and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and recommendations. (i.e. Arc Flash training, wire and component sizing, etc.)
