Job Description

The Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls Engineer will oversee the design and development of industrial power systems, control systems, and instrumentation. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional with a collaborative mindset, ready to work with multidisciplinary teams on diverse and technically challenging projects.

Responsibilities :

  • Design industrial power systems, including HV and MV substations, HV transmission, and MV distribution systems.
  • Specify electrical equipment and E&IC systems, including low/medium voltage switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, and related systems.
  • Perform electrical system modeling, arc flash risk assessments, and coordination studies using tools like ETAP, EasyPower, or SKM.
  • Create and/or review engineering deliverables such as electrical one-line diagrams, load studies, short-circuit studies, motor starting analyses, and area classifications.
  • Develop project scopes, engineering manhour estimates, and technical proposals.
  • Review vendor package drawings and specifications for compliance with design standards.
  • Conduct peer reviews for E&IC designs and provide technical guidance to team members.
  • Engage in cost estimation, including Total Installed Cost (TIC) development for electrical and control systems.
  • Collaborate with clients and project teams to define project objectives and coordinate design efforts across disciplines.
  • Travel to industrial sites or client offices to provide on-site support as needed.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers and designers in a supervisory capacity.
  • Write and edit detailed technical engineering reports.

Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Licensure : Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
  • Experience :
    • 8+ years in electrical instrumentation and control (E&IC) engineering.
    • Proficiency in designing for industries such as hydrogen, solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), oil & gas, and petrochemicals.
    • Familiarity with grid tie-ins and utility providers is preferred.
    • Knowledge of battery backup systems, UPS, and battery charging systems.
    • Experience developing heat tracing, power, lighting, grounding, and cable tray designs and calculations.
    • Hands-on experience with industry codes (NEC, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, NFPA).
    • Strong leadership, supervisory, and communication skills.
  • Tools : Proficiency in ETAP, EasyPower, SKM, and Microsoft Office Suite.
