Job Description

The Director of Wellness coordinates health and wellness programs in response to client needs and professional guidance on wellness for the aging population. Creating an excellent experience for members through health and wellness activities, the primary responsibilities include but are not limited to fulfilling the overall technical aspects involved in the development and implementation of community based health, nutrition, wellness services designed for seniors. This position is responsible for day-to-day administration of the fitness center; supervision and coordination of group exercise classes; and designing and implementing health promotion activities, fitness programs, and wellness lectures and screenings at all Senior Action locations.

Leadership Responsibilities include:

  • Development, implementation and evaluation of all wellness programs
  • Hiring, training and supervising any staff related to wellness programs.
  • Supervision of the fitness center and scheduling fitness orientations
  • Establishing effective partnerships with external stakeholders
  • Assessment of all clients and members at intake and follow up
  • Assistance in grant-writing for wellness and fitness related funding
  • Demonstration of strong customer service skills
  • Contribution to the overall growth and retention of membership

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, health promotion, health, or a related area; 1–3 years’ experience working in a wellness environment;
  • Ability to create, manage and adapt a broad wellness plan in coordination with leadership and staff
  • Experience in supervising staff (including recruiting, training, and conducting performance reviews);
  • Strong teaching and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability in fitness testing, evaluation and risk screening
  • Interest in working with Seniors
