General Description





This position is located within the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Health Service (ASTHS) at the Little Axe, OK location. The Director of Behavioral Health Grants will be responsible for partnering with the Director of Behavioral Health Services, Executive Director, Chief Medical Officer, and the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma Council to align, support, manage, and scale Behavioral Health Grants including, but not limited to the IHS, SAMHSA, ADPI, and NIH initiatives, with the goal of supporting a holistic research, prevention, and treatment program for Absentee Shawnee Tribal members as well as current and future ASTHS patients. Activities include creation of objectives, timelines, and scope of work activities, working directly with partners, creating partnerships, conducting presentations, and trainings, and coordinating evaluation activities. The Director will communicate with the tribes and tribal behavioral and physical health programs.





Responsibilities & Duties





  • Responsible for the Grant Management and Alignment of the grant programs in Behavioral Health.
  • Align Behavioral Health Grants with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Manage the implementation and scaling of grants from IHS, SAMHSA, ADPI, NIH, and other initiatives.
  • Ensure grants support holistic research, prevention, and treatment programs for tribal members and ASTHS patients.
  • Responsible for Planning and Coordination of grants.
  • Develop objectives, timelines, and scope of work for grant activities.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure effective execution of grant-funded projects.
  • Plan and oversee evaluation activities to assess the impact and effectiveness of grant initiatives.
  • Establish and nurture partnerships with external organizations, including tribal entities, government agencies, and healthcare providers.
  • Collaborate with partners to enhance behavioral health services and programs for tribal communities.
  • Communicate grant goals, progress, and outcomes to tribal leaders, healthcare providers, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct presentations and training sessions to educate stakeholders on grant initiatives and best practices in behavioral health.
  • Monitor and evaluate grant activities to ensure compliance with grant requirements and objectives.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations on grant progress, outcomes, and impact for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage with tribal communities to understand their behavioral health needs and priorities.
  • Advocate for resources and support to address behavioral health challenges affecting tribal members.
  • Stay informed about federal and state regulations, policies, and guidelines related to behavioral health grants.
  • Ensure compliance with all grant-related regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Provide strategic leadership in developing innovative approaches to improve behavioral health outcomes.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment within the organization and with external partners.
  • Manage budgets associated with behavioral health grants, ensuring funds are allocated appropriately and effectively.
  • Stay current with trends and developments in behavioral health research, prevention, and treatment.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to grant management and behavioral health.
  • Recruit, hire, and train staff members as needed to support grant activities.
  • Provide ongoing supervision, mentoring, and professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to ensure high performance and accountability.
  • Manage resource allocation, including staff time, budget, and other resources necessary for grant management and implementation.
  • Ensure resources are used efficiently and effectively to achieve grant objectives and support behavioral health programs.
  • Monitor staff performance closely to ensure alignment with organizational goals, grant requirements, and quality standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications





Education and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in related field (communication, healthcare administration, research, psychology, public health, nursing, behavioral health) and ten+ years applicable experience, Doctoral degree preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Program management experience, preferably healthcare related.
  • Proficiency in project management, public speaking, group facilitation, creation of educational materials, training, content creation, prevention program development, prevention evaluation, strategic planning, program implementation, and data collection, analysis, and presentation.
  • Understand principles, practices and techniques of project planning, development, evaluation, procedures of budget preparation and monitoring, and contracted services.
  • Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, SmartSheet, survey software, statistics programs, program management software, EMRs, informatics/data analysis etc.)
  • Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend or kneel for long periods of time.
  • Sitting or standing or walking for long period of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking hearing and visual acuity.
  • Frequent lifting (up to 15 lbs)
  • Occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs)
