Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Emergency Services to lead our Emergency Department in Ottumwa, IA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the overall leadership, management, and administration of the Emergency Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and compassionate care to patients in emergency situations. This role is crucial in fostering a culture of safety, excellence, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced and critical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the Emergency Department, including staffing, budgeting, and operations.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care by overseeing clinical practices, protocols, and standards within the Emergency Department.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership, physicians, and healthcare teams to develop and implement departmental goals, initiatives, and improvement projects.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards related to emergency care services.
• Develop and mentor nursing and clinical staff, fostering professional growth, teamwork, and a positive work environment.
• Oversee resource allocation, including staffing, equipment, and supplies, to ensure efficient and effective operations.
• Analyze and report on departmental performance metrics, patient outcomes, and quality improvement efforts.
• Serve as a key liaison between the Emergency Department and other hospital departments, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

Must-Haves:

1. RN License: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Iowa or a compact state nursing license with the ability to practice in Iowa.
2. BLS Certification: Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
3. Experience: 3-5 years of related clinical practice in an emergency or acute care setting, with a minimum of 1-2 years in a clinical leadership role.

Qualifications:

• Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to oversee a diverse team in a high-stress environment.
• Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
• In-depth knowledge of emergency care protocols, standards, and best practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with a variety of healthcare professionals.
• Advanced certifications such as ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) are preferred but not required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Masters Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
• Previous experience as an Emergency Department Director or Manager.
• Advanced certifications relevant to emergency nursing (e.g., CEN, TNCC).
