Job Description



Summary

The Controller is responsible for the accounting operations of the company and ensuring policy, processes and controls are in place to protect company assets and ensure accurate reporting of company financials. Responsibilities include leading the annual budget process and the monthly close process. The Controller is also responsible for organization development of the extended Accounting team.

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for maintaining the company ledger, including effective implementation of the new McW/AX ledger structure
  • Leads the annual budget process
  • Leads the monthly close process with a goal to reduce six-day close process by 50%
  • Responsible for financial reporting, meeting all established deadlines
  • Performs annual risk assessment; prepares and leads the execution of annual controllership improvement plan
  • Develops policy/procedures and management controls to ensure standard accounting processes across all global facilities in compliance with US GAAP
  • Leads a global accounting team of ~10 team-members; maintains established team operating rhythms including Controllership Council, Bi-Annual Balance Sheet Review and Team Meetings
  • Responsible for organization and employee development of the accounting team
  • Coordinates all audit support and internal audit activities as necessary
  • Lead the financial integration process in the event of any acquisition
  • Supervises accounting functions including A/P, payroll and required taxes
  • Perform monthly/quarterly financial variance analysis; supports action plan development for cost reduction opportunities and drives accountability throughout organization
  • Functional ownership of the Franklin, Canada and DC ledgers
  • Lead accounting team through successful go-live of Microsoft AX, ensuring all accounting processes are fully documented and team is fully cross-trained
  • Drives continuous improvement throughout the accounting function to eliminate waste and increase team productivity
  • Establish and maintain organized central repository for all critical team documents
  • Performs monthly bank reconciliations
  • Develops and implements standard global account reconciliation process
  • Perform Excel modeling to support strategic decision making as requested

Experience Required

  • Seven years experience in general accounting/accounting management, manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • Bachelors degree in accounting or business with accounting emphasis

This job operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Must be able to work under stress occasioned by production requirements and personnel.
