Job Description

Reports to: Sales Managers

Position Summary:

As a Sales Consultant, you will be responsible for selling vehicles and providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced dealership environment. You’ll work closely with customers to understand their needs, recommend products, and deliver a top-notch experience. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong communication skills, a professional appearance, and the ability to meet company sales goals.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Licenses:

  • Valid Driver’s License (California)
  • Sales License (as required by California state law)

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet or exceed sales and performance goals.
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

Customer Service & Sales:

  • Greet customers warmly and assist them in selecting vehicles based on their needs.
  • Provide product demonstrations and test drives.
  • Determine customer qualifications, needs, and budgets to guide their purchasing decision.
  • Explain vehicle features, benefits, and pricing to ensure customers understand the products they’re considering.
  • Maintain strong follow-up practices to foster repeat and referral business.
  • Resolve customer complaints with professionalism and empathy, always aiming to improve customer satisfaction.

Sales Performance & Quotas:

  • Meet or exceed daily, monthly, and yearly sales targets as established by management.
  • Work closely with the Sales Manager to meet vehicle sales quotas and profit margin goals.
  • Consistently follow the dealership’s outlined sales process, from initial contact to vehicle delivery.

Vehicle Knowledge & Delivery:

  • Stay up-to-date on product knowledge, including vehicle features, options, and technology.
  • Perform pre-delivery inspections and road tests to ensure vehicles are ready for customer delivery.
  • Provide customers with clear explanations of vehicle operating features, warranties, and ownership documents upon delivery.

Compliance & Team Collaboration:

  • Understand and comply with all federal, state, and local laws governing retail automotive sales, including advertising, pricing, and sales practices.
  • Attend required training sessions and team meetings to stay current with product knowledge and sales techniques.
  • Contribute positively to team morale and maintain a professional, courteous demeanor at all times.

General Expectations:

  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Follow lawful instructions from supervisors and adhere to dealership policies and procedures.
  • Be flexible with work hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to meet customer demands.
  • Participate in performance evaluations and set goals for continuous improvement.
