Job Description

The Asian Studies program of Hamilton College invites applications for a tenure track position in any discipline on Islam in Asia, including South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Iran/Persia, to begin July 1, 2025.  The candidate is expected to teach an introductory course (Everyday Islam) from a historical and cultural perspective on a regular basis. Mastery of a relevant Asian language is expected. The successful candidate will be appointed to the Asian Studies program. We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate their experience in teaching or working with broadly diverse student populations. Your cover letter should address ways in which you raise issues of diversity and inclusion in your teaching, scholarship, and/or service and the ways in which this enhances the educational experiences of students. The position requires institutional service including academic advising of undergraduate students after the first year.

Ph.D. by the time of appointment is preferred, but ABDs nearing completion of the dissertation will be considered. The teaching load for this position is four courses during the first year and five courses thereafter. The expected 9-month base salary range for this position is $89,800 to $96,000.
