Job Description

The Biology Department at Bard is looking for a part-time technician to assist Bard laboratory staff and faculty in the daily activities and duties of animal care and support faculty and student with live animal research. Expected to work 15-20 hours per week to include the following job duties.

Essential Duties

• Weekend and holiday feedings required
• Provides routine care of all research animals
• Food preparation
• One to three feedings per day
• Completing daily checklists
• Cleaning habitats
• Water chemistry tests
• Environmental monitoring and record keeping
• Quarantine policy and procedures
• Breeding and collection of embryos
• Maintenance and repairs of habitats
• Assists in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements related to the care of animals

• High School Diploma or equivalent/ Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Ability to work independently
• Communication skills

Compensation: $16-$20 per hour

This salary range reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
