Job Description

Position Summary

The University at Buffalo, Division of Student Life is accepting applications for the  Alcohol and Other Drug Harm Reduction Specialist within the office of  Health Promotion . Under the supervision of the  AOD Program Coordinator, this position will assist with the implementation of a comprehensive plan to develop a multimodal harm reduction program to be utilized by the entire University at Buffalo student population.

As the Alcohol and Other Drug Harm Reduction Specialist, your responsibilities include:

  • Coordination, customization and implementation of all online alcohol and other drug/sexual violence prevention education courses
  • Facilitation of group educational interventions for students who violate substance use policy
  • One-on-one risk reduction sessions with students based on the  BASICS (Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention with College Students) model of motivational interviewing
  • Assist with planning and implementation of other Alcohol and Other Drug Harm Reduction outreach and programs

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of one year of related experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, project management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively, in a multidisciplinary environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in field related to health behavior, health communications, social work or counseling
  • Demonstrated skills and experience working with diverse college student populations
